Nine Realms MMA is a mixed martial arts gym located in Martinsburg, West Virginia, dedicated to providing high-quality training for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Founded in 2019, we are a proud female-owned business that strives to promote diversity within the martial arts community.
Our facility offers a variety of programs, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, Wrestling, Cardio Kickboxing and self-defense classes, focusing on building skills, confidence, and empowerment. We support everyone, from hobbyists to serious competitors, with training for kids and adults alike.
At Nine Realms, we prioritize a family-focused environment where every member is supported and encouraged to achieve their personal goals. Our experienced coaches are committed to nurturing talent, providing individualized attention, and fostering a sense of camaraderie among students.
We also engage with our community through initiatives like our women’s self-defense program, providing safe spaces for those who have faced challenges, empowering them to regain their confidence and strength.

Meet Professor Rick Bateman, owner and founder of Megalodon Jiu-Jitsu and OBX Martial Arts.
Professor Rick has been doing martial arts and wrestling for the majority of his life. A homegrown island kid, Professor has dedicated his last 12 years to giving back to the OBX community and is now h down in the Moyock area to be a big part of this community. Over the last 10 years he's solely ran OBX Martial Arts in Nags Head, NC, making it the number one spot for martial arts on the island and winning the Best of the Beach for 8 years in a row along with best personal trainer and best gym to name some more.
He has also produced the OBX's first ever team of world youth champions as well as the team titles. Being a competitor as well he has racked up a impressive background in the Jiu Jitsu scene as well, landing him in the top 5 in 2021 for top brown belts.
Professor Rick is a Purple Heart Veteran serving in the United States Army and award Medals during his Tour in Afghanistan. Along with being a veteran, he is a full time dad of 4 and knows how to bring the fun to Classes. We are so excited to see him on the Mats.

Founder of Berserker Muay Thai, he is both warrior and teacher, forged through over 20 years of striking and competition, and proven as a two-time Amateur Muay Thai Title Holder and Professional Muay Thai Fighter.
Josh walks the line between tradition and battlecraft. His style is a forged blade: the ceremonial grace and cultural soul of Muay Thai bound together with the relentless forward fury of Dutch kickboxing. Professor Shane started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA back in 2009, dedicating years to mastering the craft. He earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under the renowned Andre Terencio of the Brazil 021 affiliate, a prestigious lineage in the sport. In 2022, he was promoted to first degree black belt, solidifying his expertise and commitment. As a professional Jiu Jitsu fighter, he has competed in over a dozen MMA fights, showcasing his skill inside the cage. Beyond competing, he has coached more than 100 amateur and professional fighters across MMA and Muay Thai disciplines, alongside training hundreds of Jiu Jitsu athletes. A multiple-time champion at purple, brown, and black belt levels in various Jiu Jitsu organizations, he also boasts multiple reigns as the 175-pound MMA champion and holds the #1 contender spot at 155 lbs. His martial arts credentials extend further with black belts in Ishinryu Karate, Oki-Te Karate, and a brown belt in Kyokushinkai, reflecting a well-rounded and formidable martial arts pedigree.
